I have been getting a lot of calls from the Texas Panhandle the last couple of weeks. Just thought I would mention that I do work in Shamrock, TX a lot and am in the area quite a bit. I have customers in Shamrock, Wheeler and Canadian, TX. If I continue to get a lot of work in the Texas Panhandle, I am considering scheduling a day each week to go to Texas and work all day. Maybe eventually, finding a place to work out of once a week in Shamrock or Wheeler.

AVG AntiVirus Problems

I have been noticing a lot of problems with AVG AntiVirus lately, even gotten a couple of calls about it. The problem is that AVG is showing that it can't update and on other occasions, that there are "No Active Components" running.

I suggested to a couple of people to try and uninstall AVG, then reinstall it, but the uninstall process fails when they try.

I looked into it and there are a couple of different solutions.
First, in Windows Vista, I have noticed that if the UAC (User Account Control) is turned on, that seems to be causing problems with AVG updating. Try turning off UAC (Go to Control Panel, User Accounts and click on Turn User Account Control on or off. Requires you to reboot to go into effect) to see if that might fix your problem.

And if that doesn't seem to work and you have tried uninstalling AVG and can't. Download AVG again from www.free.avg.com and try reinstalling it or a repair install. I have had success with that. AVG 9 is out now, so maybe they resolved the problem with the newer version.

Edit: Uninstall AVG and download Microsoft Security Essentials.
